Sunday Reading Series at Hungry Brain in Chicago
Thank you to the organizers of the Sunday Reading Series - Simone Muench and Kenyatta Rogers - in Chicago. I read this past week and it was a wonderful time.
Thank you to my fellow brilliant readers Teresa Dzieglewicz and Gabriel Ojeda-Sague.
My Twitter / X account is open but locked for just a few days before deactivation again so that readers know that they can find me here, Instagram or TikTok.
Additionally, I logged onto Threads for like…5 minutes this morning and it completely dysregulated my nervous system and I deactivated it again.
I think emotionally I am just not cut out for narrative based social media anymore. It is upsetting to walk into a room where so many people are shouting at one another, demanding things from one another, scolding one another for not behaving the way that they intend one should think, speak, and feel… I have a lot of thoughts about things, but those will be reserved for the books, but overall, my points on social media are still -
I prefer social media where I can post and not engage.
I am not comfortable with narrative / text based social media anymore.
I believe we are entering an era from which we may never return, in which people will continue to viciously harm one another in the public square…which isn’t that different from what humanity has inflicted on one another over centuries, publicly shaming and destroying people for not conforming or acting in accordance with rules and morals they deem the right way.
Ultimately, protect your mental health, space and time.
